Every employer gets hundreds of resumes every day. Due to COVID-19 and the financial crisis, most companies recruiting lesser employees. The jobs are less than human, the skilled human is very low numbers. Even skilled labor can’t get a job because they’re skilled in one are many hard skills like software engineer, writer, lawyer, teacher, civil engineer, etc.
but they are not experts in soft skills like communication, resume writing, decision making, etc. these skills are necessary for getting jobs in any field or company.
How to make your resume stand out when the marketplace is so competitive. Every company has low resources and little time to spend on choosing the best resumes from many.
All resumes are the same, it all contains bullet points, your experience, your credentials, and maybe your hobbies, a couple of references, and letters. Here I write some tricks about resumes, to follow these tricks the chances for getting jobs will be higher for everyone. Every candidate makes a resume from an employer’s perspective but these tricks are from an employer’s perspective.
As mentioned above all the resume looks the same but you should do some difference, the difference is that instead of sending all detail in the resume you should send them in a video. It’s called a video resume. It’s not an interview it’s only a resume.
The interview is the second step if the employer shortlists you but sending a resume is the first step. Focus on the first step, if you send a video link in the resume the employer click on it immediately, as you know that listening to audio and watching a video is easy than reading, in the video employer can sense your emotions, listen to your sounds, can imagine your looks like.
If you succeed to impress, if they find you interesting, maybe they interview you first out of a hundred or thousands.
To make a video resume you should learn to make a video, communication skills, video editing skills, video recording skills, and audio recording skills. Here I will mention some tips about making a video resume.
First of all focus on your sound quality because, when you sound good, you sound professional. The employer wants to hear your voice and want to hear your story. The second tip for making a video resume is the environment. Make sure you’re in a quiet environment. There wouldn’t be any noise, and were no people walking around in the background. Make sure your background is tidy, and put some books in the background so that the employer knows that you are a learner, and you like to read.
Put a few other things in front of you or on the table that shows a little bit of your personality. The third tip to making a video resume is lighting. During the recording video, the background wouldn’t have too much sunlight because then you look underexposed, the sunlight should be in front of you so that the employer can see your face, your facial expression, and your body language.
What should you say in this video resume? Now you find here a step-by-step outline. First of all, tell them about job advertisements. Where you saw this advertisement which may be a job website, Linkedin, a newspaper, or a referral.
Tell them you are an expert in this field and you already searching for this position. Then talk about the HR Manager or HR director and CEO and talk about their company. Then acknowledge the fact that they are getting a lot of resumes about who to hire and which one is the ideal member for your company to join your organization.
The next component of what should you say to make your resume highlight for a job. Bring up the objection about yourself and then handle it. Like, many individuals have more experience and knowledge than you but you are a dedicated Learner, you’re willing to learn, and you are willing to go the extra mile. You’ll make it up with hard work. Share a little story on how you did that in the past.
If you are young tell about that young people are more energetic than experienced, if you are experienced tell them how experienced people are better. It gives the employer comfort. Employer thing that you’re not trying to hide anything from me.
In this video resume, you summarize who they’re looking for. Mention all qualities and requirements of the employer. Tell them why you are different. See, this is why the video resume strategy is so genius. Who is better, what makes you different from everybody else?
Share a little bit of that personal side. A little bit of your interest and hobby. Show in this video your hobby and your profession, for example, if you like martial arts show a little bit of your training, and do the gym in 30 seconds.
The next step to making a video resume is how long that video should be. Your video should be between 05 to 10 minutes. Tell them about yourself in short, because you are not giving them an interview, the detail should be discussed in the interview.
After watching your video the employer thinks this person will make a great team member. Let me find out more and they will call you for an interview to know more about you.
Before making the final video make sure you rehearse two to three times. Because practice makes you confident, I already wrote about confidence, to get more confidence click and read carefully about how to be confident in any situation. Practice until you feel comfortable.
Now, am I saying that you got to do this for every single job you apply for? No, but for the ones that you want, out of the hundreds of jobs that you apply for, the top three four five dream jobs, those are the ones you want to apply this strategy with.
So, you have somewhat greater clearness. You get more confidence when you submit this video resume.
Good luck.
